Teaching kids about food...

Easel Art Studio welcomed All Natural Chicago to teach their campers how to make Cinnamon Rolls during their Art of Edible Creations camp this week.  It was a wonderful experience for me.  I really loved the way it came together and how smart and well behaved the kids were.

We showed up with balls of dough in the baking containers.  They washed their hands, floured their table and their hands.  The kids rolled out the dough, pressed it into a rectangle and waited patiently while the cinnamon schmeer was portioned onto their dough.  The used their fingers to spread it around, rolled it up and put them back into the baking papers.  We mixed butter and cream cheese with powdered sugar for the frosting.  The premade cinnamon rolls were passed out as the freshly rolled ones were collected.  They frosted the baked ones and enjoyed them with abandon.  Many fingers were licked in the making of these rolls!  You can download a pdf with the recipe here...
